For the October 5, 2026, issue, the artist and architect Victoria Tentler-Krylov celebrates the flower district, one of New York’s most magical, verdant nooks. Once sprawling from Twenty-third to Thirty-fourth Street, the neighborhood has contracted to a single block on Twenty-eighth Street—but has lost none of its charm. “Walking through the block on a wet day is like being in a jungle during a monsoon,” Tentler-Krylov said. “In the rain, all the colors get even more saturated—it’s an intense sensory experience.”
