The Hottest New Celebrity Beauty Brands
From Selena Gomez’s makeup brand, Rare Beauty, to Ellen DeGeneres’s skin-care line, Kind Science, to DJ Khaled’s CBD-infused men’s grooming company, Blesswell, it seems like every celebrity is getting into the beauty business. Here are some of the latest additions to the crowded field.
Bâtards Glorieux by Christoph Waltz
The two-time Academy Award winner Cristoph Waltz is known for his ability to play charming villains. Taking a step back from acting, Waltz has launched his own high-end fragrance brand, Bâtards Glorieux, an homage to his role in the movie “Inglourious Basterds” (but in French, to make it fancy). Like his characters, Waltz’s cologne initially seems sweet, until you catch a whiff of its dark undertones. Customers have described the scent as “menacing,” “unsettling,” and “vaguely racist.”
Second Chances by Felicity Huffman
“Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman was recently back in the headlines when she was convicted for her involvement in the Varsity Blues scandal. Inspired by the ten days that she spent in jail, Felicity created the minimalist skin-care line Second Chances. With simplicity as the brand’s core tenet, Second Chances’s serum consists of only three ingredients and can be easily concocted in a toilet. Huffman has pledged to keep the brand affordable, with moisturizers starting at the low cost of five cigarettes.
CosmicBoy x ColourPop by Neil deGrasse Tyson
The astrophysicist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson has decided to dip his toe into the world of lip gloss, teaming up with the makeup brand ColourPop to release a line of fruit-flavored lip tints. With the CosmicBoy collection, deGrasse Tyson aims to show the world that he’s more than his renowned intergalactic research—he’s also fun and flirty!
BabySkyn by Khai Malik
The daughter of A-listers Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, two-year old Khai Malik is finally striking out on her own, as C.E.O. of the skin-care brand BabySkyn. Inspired by her own literal baby skin, Malik has crafted a line of exfoliants and serums for the mature-skinned three-plus-years-old crowd. Having received some criticism for being too young to be a C.E.O., Malik and her team have responded by assuring the public that she is a top performer at Mommy and Me, and is on track to be potty trained by the end of Q2 2023.
WMDBeauty by Dick Cheney
Former Vice-President Dick Cheney is back in the spotlight after launching his own hair-care line, WMDBeauty. In an attempt to rebrand his legacy, Cheney is seeking to change associations to the acronym “WMD” from “weapons of mass destruction” to “worthy, magnetic, delightful.” With the tag line “Don’t let hair loss terrorize you,” WMDBeauty provides hemisqualane-based products to strengthen hair follicles. Unfortunately, people who have ordered products from WMDBeauty have complained that there is no evidence that any of the products exist, and that WMDBeauty is actually a pretense for Cheney to invade this celebrity-beauty-brand list. ♦
